VIOSH Australia Celebrating 30 Years

The SIA applauds VIOSH Australia' celebration of 30 years of education and research in occupational health and safety, and proudly supports the conduct of a "Directions in OHS Research and Practice" Conference which is planned to be conducted at the University of Ballarat, from 8-9 July 2008 inclusive.

This year sees VIOSH Australia at the University of Ballarat celebrating 30 years of education and research in the occupational health and safety field. We will be celebrating this milestone with a two-day conference which will be held on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th July. We will also be holding a cocktail party and our 30th Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony.

One of the aims of our anniversary celebrations is to celebrate what has been achieved to date, and to challenge delegates to consider how we can collectively make the greatest difference to OHS performance over the next ten years.

The conference is also an opportunity to celebrate, to bring people together and discuss contemporary ideas in OHS. The conference has attracted a number of international and national speakers and will spark a robust discussion on OHS practice that is based upon the best available evidence and thinking.

Themes to be explored will include: OHS Leadership, Culture and Change; Safe Design; OHS - On Becoming a Profession; and Continuing Education and Evidence-Based Practice.

SIA Members (who provide current proof of membership) will be able to register for the early bird rates and receive 1 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point per day of the conference.

The Conference Registration book and registration forms can be downloaded from: www.ballarat.edu.au/viosh Follow the prompts to the conference site. Further details can be obtained from Dianne Elshaug on 03 5327 9160 or viosh@ballarat.edu.au
